Privacy starts with the data path
“Private AI” is not one switch. A voice workflow can include audio capture, speech recognition, cleanup, translation, insertion, history, and optional remote calls. Voxt documents those stages so you can choose the path that fits the conversation.

A local ASR channel processes the captured audio on your Mac. The model, hardware, language, and audio conditions still affect speed and accuracy, but the model step does not require a Voxt-hosted transcription service.
Local cleanup and translation
A local LLM can clean up a transcript, rewrite it, translate it, or apply an App Branch instruction without sending that step to a remote provider.
Remote providers stay explicit
If you configure a BYOK remote ASR or LLM provider, the data required for that step goes to that provider under its current policy. That choice is different from Voxt silently routing every voice request through its own cloud.

The safest setup is usually the one you can explain without hand-waving. Check the model channel, confirm what is installed locally, and treat the Mac and its local files as part of the security boundary.
